xtags
Chrome extension tagging each X post's intent (inform, persuade, provoke, sell) plus rage-bait and hidden-ad flags via Jev.
Overview
Xtags labels each post on your X timeline with what it is trying to get you to do. Jev answers four quick questions per post: the main intent (inform, persuade, provoke, sell, entertain or other) as a Choice, and three Noul signals for rage bait, text that reads as mass-generated, and undisclosed advertising. The intent label always shows; the three signals appear only above thresholds, so tuning thresholds does not change the intent tags. Labels are a word plus a number, with no analysis text.
Colors follow a monotonic severity scale, with text carrying the meaning so it survives color blindness or grayscale. Version 0.1.8 tightened boundaries, such as not treating harsh criticism alone as rage bait. It uses full text of collapsed long posts where available. The README, mainly in Chinese, includes clear disclaimers: personal use only, not affiliated with X, labels are probabilistic and may be wrong, and users must check compliance with X's terms. Other compatible API services can be configured.
What the decision model decides
| Type | Question | Answers |
|---|---|---|
| Choice | What is this post mainly doing? | inform · persuade · provoke · sell · entertain · other |
| Yes / no | Is it trading on anger for engagement? | yes · no |
| Yes / no | Does it read as mass-generated? | yes · no |
| Yes / no | Is it an undisclosed commercial recommendation? | yes · no |
How it works
- Read rendered posts in the timeline.
- Send each to Jev with four questions.
- Always show intent; show signals above thresholds.
- Cache results; re-judge when prompts change.
Strengths
- Compact labels without generated text.
- Stable intent labels while tuning signal thresholds.
- Accessible color design.
Caveats
- Labels may be wrong and are not factual claims.
- Use may conflict with X's terms; users must check.
- Chinese-first documentation.
