Pacman AI Race

Browser Pac-Man race comparing hosted Jev and self-hosted Laya choosing routes from the same board state, after code removes fatal routes.

Serviceprototype

Overview

Pacman AI Race is a browser maze-chase experiment that runs TypeSafe's hosted Jev and self-hosted Laya side by side. Both pilots start from the same maze and receive the same full-board state and typed route choices. Per the list summary, a deterministic three-junction simulation first removes routes predicted to be fatal when a surviving route exists, then the model makes one typed Choice among the remaining route IDs, and the server rejects any answer outside the supplied set.

Each column shows its score, selected route, candidate probabilities, confidence, latency, metrics and decision log. There are pages for the side-by-side race, solo AI or manual play, and a repeatable benchmark across Laya checkpoints. API keys and Laya connection details stay on the local Node server. It suits anyone comparing hosted and open decision models on the same task.

What the decision model decides

TypeQuestionAnswers
ChoiceWhich route should Pac-Man take at this junction?—

How it works

  1. Compute route candidates and remove predicted-fatal ones.
  2. Send board state and remaining route IDs to Jev and/or Laya.
  3. Reject any answer outside the supplied set.
  4. Execute the route and log decisions and metrics.

Strengths

  • Direct side-by-side comparison of Jev and Laya.
  • Safety pre-filter in code.
  • Benchmark page for repeatable runs.

Caveats

  • Game demo, not a general framework.
  • Needs a TypeSafe key and/or a running Laya server.

Getting started

npm install; cp .env.example .env (set TYPESAFE_API_KEY and/or LAYA_BASE_URL); npm start; open http://localhost:4173.

Use cases and integrations

How curated lists describe it

  • Gaming: browser-based Pac-Man race where deterministic three-junction simulation removes routes predicted to be fatal when a survivor exists, then Jev makes one typed `Choice` among the remaining route IDs while the server rejects any answer outside the supplied set, with self-hosted Laya using the same decision contract for comparison.

Frequently asked questions

What does the model decide?

Which safe route to take at each junction.

Can I run it without TypeSafe?

Yes, with Laya only, or in manual mode with no provider.

Where are keys stored?

On the local Node server, never in the browser.
