3D Magic 8 Ball you shake and release, where Jev chooses among the 20 classic answers and shows a probability for each.

ServiceprototypeMIT

Overview

Magic Jev Ball is a three.js Magic 8 Ball that does not pick at random. You hold the ball, shake it and let go; a single Convex action sends your question to Jev through the Convex AI Gateway, so there are no model keys to manage, and Jev picks which of the 20 classic answers fits. The page shows Jev's probability for every answer under the ball.

Per the listing, the page displays the highest-probability answer because the rounded probabilities occasionally disagree with the reported choice. The frontend is served with Convex's static hosting component. Running it requires a Convex project on a paid plan, since the AI Gateway is a paid feature. It was built with help from Claude Code and is MIT licensed, with a live version online.

TypeQuestionAnswers
ChoiceWhich of the 20 classic Magic 8 Ball answers fits this question?—

How it works

  1. User types a question and shakes the ball
  2. Convex action sends it to Jev via the AI Gateway
  3. Jev returns probabilities over the 20 answers
  4. Page shows the top answer and all probabilities

Strengths

  • Simple illustration of a Choice with visible probabilities
  • No model keys to manage via Convex

Caveats

  • Requires a paid Convex plan
  • Toy demo
