Jevcast
Native macOS launcher and window manager that optionally uses Jev to match loose natural-language commands to known actions.
Overview
Jevcast is a native macOS launcher and window manager opened with Option-Space for launching apps, finding files, calculating, moving windows and reusing clipboard history. For loose requests such as make this window bigger, it can optionally use Jev with your own API key to match your words to a known action or application workflow, with local response caching according to listings; the launcher works fully without it.
It is built with SwiftUI and AppKit with no third-party package dependencies, runs on macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon and Intel, and has no account or analytics; core search, clipboard history and voice run on the Mac. Installation is from source, and the README provides a careful prompt for a coding agent to build it: check the Xcode version, clone the latest release tag, verify the remote URL, run tests and the build script, verify the code signature, back up any existing app and never bypass Gatekeeper. It is MIT licensed with a website.
What the decision model decides
| Type | Question | Answers |
|---|---|---|
| Choice | Which known action or workflow does this natural-language command mean?(inferred) | — |
How it works
- User opens the launcher and types a request
- Exact matches handled locally
- Loose requests optionally sent to Jev to pick a known action
- Execute the action; cache the response locally
Strengths
- Jev is optional; core works offline
- No third-party dependencies or analytics
- Only maps to known actions
Caveats
- Build from source requires Xcode 26
- Jev matching uses your own key
Getting started
