Jev Tetris
Real-time versus Tetris where Jev and an LLM or open Laya model pick placements on the same seeded pieces and clock.
Overview
Jev vs the LLMs is a real-time Tetris battle in which Jev faces Claude Haiku 4.5, Gemini 3.8 Flash or Laya, an open-weight typed-decision model running locally. Both sides share a seeded piece sequence, the same options and the same clock. When a piece spawns the model is asked at once while gravity keeps pulling; if the piece lands before the answer arrives it locks where it fell, so latency is part of the game. Cleared lines become garbage rows on the opponent's board, and gravity speeds up on a shared schedule.
Code enumerates every legal placement and describes each outcome in words (lines cleared, holes, height, surface, wells). Jev answers with a Choice over those options; the LLMs answer through a forced place_piece function call with an enum of the same options; Laya, with a 512-token context, gets a short board description and the six best placements pre-ranked by heuristic. Per-model stats include latency, missed deadlines and invalid answers. A live version runs on Vercel with bring-your-own keys.
What the decision model decides

How it works
- Piece spawns; code enumerates legal placements with outcome descriptions
- Model is asked immediately while gravity continues
- Answer slides and hard-drops the piece; late answers mean the piece locks where it fell
- Cleared lines send garbage to the opponent; stats are tracked
Strengths
- Makes latency visible as a game mechanic
- Same options and information for each model
- Includes an open-weight local opponent
- Live hosted demo
Caveats
- No licence file per listing
- Requires a TypeSafe key plus an Anthropic or Gemini key for LLM opponents

How curated lists describe it

Frequently asked questions
Who can Jev play against?
Claude Haiku 4.5, Gemini 3.8 Flash or a locally hosted Laya model.
What if a model answers too slowly?
The piece locks wherever it has fallen, counted as a missed deadline.
Is it fair across models?
All get the same legal options; Laya receives a shortened, pre-ranked list because of its 512-token context.
