jev-snake (lalitsonawane)

Web Snake autoplay where each move is a System One Choice from Jev or wire-compatible Drex, with a side-by-side compare mode.

Projectprototype

Overview

Jev Snake (Web) is a Next.js app deployed on Vercel where every move decision is a live System One Choice sent to POST /v1/systemone. Users can drive the snake with TypeSafe's jev-latest, with Drex (a wire-compatible System One provider), or compare both side by side, sending the same state and questions in parallel and choosing which model's answer drives the snake.

The browser serialises the board and legal moves, a server route forwards the request to the selected provider, and the returned choice is validated before being applied. To save calls, safe straight-line holds may reuse the last legal direction without a new API call. Classic rules apply: win by filling the board, lose by wall, self crash or being trapped. Autoplay pauses after a minute idle or when the tab is hidden. It is a demo for comparing System One providers on a simple, visible task.

What the decision model decides

TypeQuestionAnswers
ChoiceWhich legal direction should the snake move next?—

How it works

  1. Browser serialises state and legal moves
  2. Server route posts to Jev, Drex or both
  3. Validated choice is applied; safe straight-line holds skip the API call
  4. Invalid response stops with an error; idle or hidden tab pauses

Strengths

  • Live production demo
  • Side-by-side comparison of two wire-compatible providers
  • Hold optimisation reduces API calls

Caveats

  • Demo app, not a research harness
  • Drex may reject some TypeSafe-shaped requests with 422
  • Requires API keys for both providers to compare

Frequently asked questions

What is Drex?

A System One provider the README describes as wire-compatible with Jev's noul, choice and score questions.

Does every frame call the API?

No. When a straight-line hold is still safe, the last legal direction is reused without a call.

Can I try it without installing?

Yes, there is a live deployment at jev-snake-theta.vercel.app.
