jev-cli
Python CLI that analyses JSON, NDJSON and JSONC logs and artifacts with Jev question packs, anchoring each answer to source lines.
Overview
jev-cli by joshlong145, installed as jcli, analyses JSON, NDJSON and JSONC system artifacts such as logs with Jev and returns typed, calibrated answers instead of prose. Questions come in packs, such as a logs triage pack asking whether lines are an incident, how severe on an ordered scale, and which category (application or dependency, for example), applied over sliding windows of records.
Every answer is anchored to the source lines it came from and carries a certainty number, so you can gate on it; a mark-uncertain option flags low-certainty rows, and for Noul answers it reports a derived certainty rather than an API confidence. Output can be a table or JSON, with call and token counts. An install script uses uv, supports editable, dry-run and uninstall modes, and verifies after installing that the built-in packs and transforms shipped.
What the decision model decides
| Type | Question | Answers |
|---|---|---|
| Yes / no | Do these log lines indicate an incident? | yes · no |
| Score | How severe is it? | Informational · ... · Outage |
| Choice | Which category does it fall into? | application · dependency · ... |
How it works
- Choose a question pack and window size
- jcli reads JSON/NDJSON/JSONC records
- Jev answers pack questions per window
- Output answers anchored to line ranges with certainty
Strengths
- Answers traceable to exact lines
- Reusable question packs
- Install-time self-checks
Caveats
- Derived certainty for Noul is not an API confidence
- No licence stated in the excerpt
Getting started
`./scripts/install.sh`, `export TYPESAFE_API_KEY=...`, then `jcli analyze app.ndjson --pack logs.triage --window 2`.At a glance
