Jev

PowerShell module that builds Jev Noul, Choice and Score questions and returns answers as pipeline-friendly properties.

Overview

Jev by Doug Finke is a PowerShell module that connects scripts to TypeSafe's Jev model. Cmdlets such as New-JevYesNoQuestion and New-JevQuestion build typed questions, and Invoke-Jev takes state from the pipeline and returns each answer as a named property alongside the input state, so scripts can apply their own thresholds with ordinary Select-Object or Where-Object.

The README example asks whether the on-call engineer should be paged for two checkout incidents and labels the result page when the probability is at least 0.8, stressing that the cutoff is an example policy rather than a Jev default; a separate example adds a Review outcome for uncertain incidents. New-JevQuestion uses parameter names that mirror the Jev payload. It is aimed at administrators and ops engineers who live in PowerShell. Gallery publication is handled separately from the GitHub repository.

What the decision model decides

TypeQuestionAnswers
Yes / noShould the on-call engineer be paged now?yes · no

How it works

  1. Import-Module Jev and set TYPESAFE_API_KEY
  2. Build questions with New-JevYesNoQuestion or New-JevQuestion
  3. Pipe state strings into Invoke-Jev
  4. Apply thresholds in PowerShell to label or route

Strengths

  • Fits naturally into PowerShell pipelines
  • Thresholds stay in the script, not the model
  • Parameter names mirror the API payload

Caveats

  • Requires a TypeSafe key
  • No licence stated in the README excerpt

Getting started

`Import-Module Jev`, set TYPESAFE_API_KEY, then pipe text into `Invoke-Jev -Question $question`.
