jev-broadcast-lab
Public Jev lab centred on a chess match broadcast where Jev picks from legal moves, plus smaller judgment booths and a Fast Flag catalogue.
Overview
Jev Broadcast Lab is an independent public playground built after the authors were accepted to TypeSafe's waitlist. Its flagship page is a chess match: chess.js owns legality and Jev only picks among a closed list of legal moves, never inventing moves or writing commentary. A row of smaller judgment booths reuses the same client for classification and matching exercises, and a separate Fast Flag catalogue sits outside the broadcast design.
The engineering goal was running Jev in public without exposing the key and keeping a hard line between judgment (Jev) and facts (code). The static site under web/ never holds the key; operators use a local Python server that attaches the key on same-origin /v1/systemone calls, and the public site goes through a Cloudflare Worker that holds the key, checks Origin and Sec-Fetch-Site, issues an HttpOnly session cookie and rate-limits to 400 calls per IP per minute. One shared client and heads-up display show model, latency and tokens, with Choice bars and Score or Noul meters. It states it is not a chess engine, chatbot or official TypeSafe product.
What the decision model decides
| Type | Question | Answers |
|---|---|---|
| Choice | Which legal move from this list should be played? | — |
| Choice | Booth-specific classification or matching question(inferred) | — |
How it works
- chess.js computes legal moves and state
- Jev picks one move from the closed list
- Booths reuse the client for other Choice, Score or Noul tasks
- Requests go through a local server or Cloudflare Worker holding the key
Strengths
- Key never in the browser
- Rate-limited, origin-checked public proxy
- Shared client with latency and token display
Caveats
- Chess play strength not a goal
- Independent, unofficial lab

Frequently asked questions
Can Jev make illegal chess moves here?
No, it only picks from the legal list chess.js provides.
How is the key protected?
It lives in a local server or a Cloudflare Worker, never in the browser.
Is this official?
No, it is independent work.
