quietly
Chrome extension that drafts WhatsApp and Gmail replies and hides unproductive YouTube videos using a Jev yes/no question per video.
Overview
Quietly is a Manifest V3 Chrome extension with two jobs. On WhatsApp Web and Gmail it suggests three replies in your own learned style, remembers per-contact notes and facts, and never sends anything for you. On YouTube it hides Shorts, games and videos that are not informational or productive, on the home page, search results and the watch-page sidebar.
The YouTube sorting is where the decision model sits: by default it uses ~typesafe/jev-latest through OpenRouter, asking one yes/no question per video, which the README puts at about $0.0002 per 40 videos (any chat model also works, Haiku at about $0.002). Each video is judged once and the verdict cached; new videos stay hidden until judged so nothing flashes. Replies use a generative model (Claude Haiku by default). It uses your own OpenRouter key, has no server or analytics, and sends titles and channel names when YouTube cleaning is on.
What the decision model decides
| Type | Question | Answers |
|---|---|---|
| Yes / no | Is this video informational or productive (keep it)?(inferred) | — |
How it works
- Collect titles and channel names of new videos on the YouTube page
- Keep them hidden until judged
- Ask Jev one yes/no question per video in a batch
- Fade in kept videos and cache every verdict
Strengths
- About $0.0002 per 40 videos with Jev per the README, ten times cheaper than Haiku
- Verdicts cached so each video is judged once
- No server; key stays in the browser profile
Caveats
- Depends on OpenRouter and page structure that can change
- Reply drafting uses a generative LLM, not Jev
