jev-tab-order
Chrome extension that groups and orders all tabs in a window by meaning and your rules with a single Jev request.
Overview
Jev Tab Order is a Chrome Web Store extension that organises the tabs and groups in the current window using Jev. Clicking the toolbar icon collects tab titles, URLs (with credentials, query strings and fragments removed), positions and group memberships, excluding pinned tabs and never reading page bodies. All judgments are evaluated together in one API request regardless of tab count: which existing group an ungrouped tab fits, which tabs or groups belong together, how early or late each should appear under the rules, and whether new groups are allowed.
The extension accepts only answers above thresholds, assigns tabs, sorts by Jev's priority scores while preserving previous order on ties, optionally names new groups with Chrome's built-in local AI, and validates that every tab, pinned tab and existing group membership is preserved before applying. Preview and undo are supported, and undo makes no API call. Users can write custom sorting rules in plain language. The key is stored on the device only.
What the decision model decides
| Type | Question | Answers |
|---|---|---|
| Choice | Which existing group does this ungrouped tab fit? | — |
| Score | How early or late should this tab or group appear under the rules? | — |
| Yes / no | Do the rules permit creating new groups? | — |
How it works
- Collect sanitised tab metadata and rules
- One Jev request answers grouping and ordering questions
- Build layout from accepted answers above thresholds
- Validate and apply via Chrome APIs; preview and undo available
Strengths
- One request per organisation regardless of tab count
- Page contents never sent; URLs sanitised
- Validation preserves pinned tabs and existing groups
- Available on the Chrome Web Store
Caveats
- Uses your TypeSafe key and may incur charges
- New-group naming depends on Chrome's built-in AI availability
