jev-figma-design-plugin

Figma plugin that splits a one-sentence design instruction into small Jev choice questions, then code draws the result.

Pluginprototype

Overview

Jev × Figma is an experiment in understanding design instructions. A sentence such as 'add a circle here' is broken into several small multiple-choice questions answered in parallel by Jev (what to do: add; which shape: circle; where: here), and code combines the answers, validates them and calls the Figma API, for example createEllipse with a default 80 by 80 size placed at a pin the user dragged onto the canvas. Jev picks answers; code makes API calls. Unclear answers trigger a follow-up question, and still-unclear ones are not executed.

It supports circles and rectangles (create, scale, fill, stroke, size and radius), text, existing button component instances, and generic copy, move, arrange, delete and undo, with up to three linked clauses per sentence. The README, mainly in Chinese, is candid that offline checks pass but real Jev requests and Figma writes have not been recorded as passing acceptance, and desktop voice input currently fails before reaching Jev. The key stays in local server memory.

What the decision model decides

How it works

  1. User drops a location pin and types an instruction
  2. Server asks Jev several Choice questions in parallel
  3. Code composes and validates a command, re-asking if unclear
  4. Execute via the Figma plugin API with undo support

Strengths

  • Composable small questions instead of free-form generation
  • Coordinates come from the user, not the model
  • Key never stored in Figma documents

Caveats

  • Real end-to-end acceptance not yet recorded
  • Voice input currently failing
  • Limited object and property support

Getting started

`npm ci && npm run check && npm run build && npm run jev`, then import manifest.json in Figma desktop and connect with a TypeSafe key.

How curated lists describe it

Frequently asked questions

What does Jev decide?

What operation, which object and where, by answering small choice questions about the instruction.

Does Jev guess coordinates?

No, 'here' comes from a pin the user places.

Is it fully working?

Offline checks pass, but real Jev and Figma end-to-end acceptance is not yet recorded.
