jev-esketcher
Generative painting canvas where Jev chooses paint materials and palettes for regions of 105 procedural sketches.
Overview
Jev eSketcher 1.0 is a generative painting instrument. You select part of a line-art sketch, Jev decides which paint material it should get, and the material flies across the desk and paints itself in with its own animation. It includes 105 procedural sketches in 21 categories with named regions (eye, iris, petal, gear and so on) and 121 procedural paint materials across 13 behaviours such as liquid blobs, spray, watercolour, ink, chrome, smoke, lava and holographic foil.
The infinite desk is a custom canvas engine with pan, zoom, grouping, drawing tools and undo. Play mode has Jev fill every sketch, one decision per region kind, and Sampling mode paints N samples in a carousel, choosing a palette for each sketch then a paint per region. The README describes Jev's documented behaviour (parallel isolated questions, probability distributions, a confidence formula, RLCD training) and shows undisclosed internals as a dashed box rather than inventing them. Built with FastAPI, React and TypeScript.
What the decision model decides
| Type | Question | Answers |
|---|---|---|
| Choice | Which paint material should this sketch region get? | — |
| Choice | Which colour palette fits this sketch? | — |
How it works
- Select a sketch region or start Play or Sampling
- Ask Jev for a palette, then a material per region kind
- Animate the chosen material onto the canvas
- Repeat across sketches on the desk
Strengths
- Large procedural library of sketches and materials
- Avoids inventing undocumented model internals
- Gallery and demo video available
Caveats
- Creative demo, not a production tool
- Requires a TypeSafe key for live decisions

Frequently asked questions
What does Jev decide?
The colour palette for each sketch and the paint material for each region.
Does Jev generate images?
No. It picks from procedural materials; the app renders the painting.
What is the tech stack?
FastAPI, React and TypeScript with a custom canvas engine.
