Chrome extension that re-ranks Google results with Jev questions per result and folds away sales pages and SEO filler.

Overview

Sift is a Manifest V3 Chrome extension that re-ranks Google search results. It scrapes the organic results (skipping sponsored blocks) and sends one Jev call per result, all in parallel, each with five atomic questions: four Nouls (answers the query, promotional, SEO filler, discussion) and a depth Score from 0 to 3. A plan step combines them into a weighted score and sorts results; a result is flagged when its promotional or filler probability is at or above 0.85, hidden only if the depth answer's confidence is at least 0.6 and otherwise dimmed, and left in place if scoring failed.

Each search also gets one intent question: if it is transactional (for example buying a product), sales pages are not penalised. Site rules can always boost or hide a domain without an API call, a 'Why this rank?' popover shows every factor, and a toast offers 'Show original' to restore Google's order. Scores are cached for seven days keyed by question set, query and URL. Animations follow fluid-interface guidance and respect reduced motion.

How it works

  1. Scrape organic Google results
  2. Ask Jev five questions per result in parallel, plus one intent question
  3. Combine into a weighted score and apply flag/hide thresholds
  4. Reorder the page with reason badges and a restore option

Strengths

  • Transparent per-factor explanations
  • Original order always restorable
  • Scores cached for a week

Caveats

  • Many parallel calls per search
  • Depends on Google page structure

Getting started

npm install and build, load the extension, then enter a TypeSafe API key on the options page.

Frequently asked questions

What does Jev decide?

Whether each result answers the query, is promotional or filler, is a discussion, and how deep it is.

Will it hide shopping results when I want to buy?

No; transactional searches do not penalise sales pages.

Can I undo the reordering?

Yes, Show original restores Google's order exactly.
