omarchy-mail

Terminal Gmail client for Omarchy where Jev files mail into Gmail labels when confident and grades replies as you write.

Librarybeta

Overview

Mail for Omarchy is a lightweight terminal Gmail client for the Omarchy Linux setup, with arrow-key and Ctrl shortcuts and categories that are real Gmail labels so they sync to your phone. TypeSafe's Jev does two jobs. It sorts the inbox: every new message is filed into the category it fits, but only when Jev is above a configured threshold; personal or unclear mail stays in the Inbox, and Ctrl+J shows how Jev weighed each category.

It also reads replies as you write them: a sidebar grades clarity, tone, length, next step and language as green, yellow or red bars, and checks which questions and requests in the original message are still unanswered. Categories are defined with descriptions in a TOML file, and a systemd timer can auto-sort new mail every five minutes. It needs a Gmail app password and a TypeSafe key.

What the decision model decides

TypeQuestionAnswers
ChoiceWhich category (Gmail label) does this message belong to?—
ScoreHow clear / well-toned / appropriately long is this reply?red · yellow · green
Yes / noHas this question from the original message been answered?yes · no

How it works

  1. New mail arrives (timer runs every five minutes).
  2. Jev scores each category described in categories.toml.
  3. File into a label only above the threshold; otherwise leave in Inbox.
  4. While replying, show grades and unanswered questions in a sidebar.

Strengths

  • Conservative: unclear mail stays in the Inbox.
  • Labels sync to Gmail on all devices.
  • Transparent per-category weights via Ctrl+J.

Caveats

  • Omarchy-specific; requires a TypeSafe key and Gmail app password.
  • Message content is sent to TypeSafe.
