jev-webcontrol

Chinese Chrome extension for web automation where a Jev-style decision model picks elements and beam search finds routes.

Projectprototype

Overview

JEV Web Control is a Chrome side-panel extension that lets Chinese-speaking users try Jev-style fast decisions for web automation on domestic sites. You describe a goal in natural language, such as open Baidu, search for something and click the first result; the extension parses it into a plan, collects elements across the main document, shadow roots and cross-origin iframes, builds durable locators, and uses beam search to explore candidate routes in parallel, keeping a main path and a backup.

Notably, its default decision engine is not TypeSafe's Jev but Alibaba Cloud Model Studio's decision-model-preview, reached through an OpenAI-compatible endpoint with a SystemOne-compatible protocol option, which the README calls the JEV model. DeepSeek optionally handles plan parsing and route judging and a vision model is a fallback. Sensitive actions, low confidence and ambiguity pause for human confirmation. Results can be exported as Markdown, skill packages, replay scripts, Playwright code or JSON. It defaults to local mode with keys stored in chrome.storage, and runs in a mock mode when no keys are set.

What the decision model decides

TypeQuestionAnswers
ChoiceWhich page element should be acted on for this step?—
ChoiceWhich candidate route should be kept as main and backup?—

How it works

  1. Parse a natural-language goal into a plan
  2. Collect elements across documents, shadow DOM and iframes
  3. Decision model picks elements; beam search ranks routes
  4. Pause for human confirmation on risky or uncertain steps; export the plan

Strengths

  • Works on Chinese sites with Chinese instructions
  • Shadow DOM and iframe coverage
  • Exports reusable automation scripts
  • Mock mode without keys

Caveats

  • Default engine is Alibaba's decision-model-preview, not TypeSafe Jev
  • Preview model availability may change

Getting started

Load the extension/ folder unpacked in chrome://extensions, open the side panel and add an Alibaba Cloud key in Settings, or run without keys in mock mode.

Frequently asked questions

Does it use TypeSafe's Jev?

By default it uses Alibaba Cloud's decision-model-preview, which the README calls the JEV model.

What happens on sensitive actions?

It pauses for human confirmation on sensitive, low-confidence or ambiguous steps.

Can I try it without a key?

Yes, it runs in a local mock mode when no model channels are configured.
