jev-net

Lightweight .NET client for TypeSafe's System One / Jev API with one dependency, ported faithfully from the official Python SDK.

Overview

Jev.Net is a community .NET client for TypeSafe's System One API. You ask small typed questions (Noul, Choice, Score) about text or structured state and get probabilities back. It is a faithful port of the official Python SDK as of version 0.7.4: same request shape, protected headers, exception hierarchy, message text, retry rules and dotted field paths for malformed responses, with a test suite mirroring upstream file by file. Differences forced by .NET are listed.

Its main selling point is a single dependency (Microsoft.Extensions.Logging.Abstractions); retries, backoff, Retry-After handling and per-attempt timeouts are implemented in about a hundred lines, and CI fails if a second dependency appears. It targets net8.0 and net10.0 and is trim and Native AOT compatible. The README points to TypeSafeAI.Net as an alternative with dependency-injection and Microsoft.Extensions.AI middleware for apps that want that shape.

How it works

  1. dotnet add package Jev.Net and set TYPESAFE_API_KEY
  2. Build a dictionary of typed questions
  3. Call SystemOneAsync with the state
  4. Read typed answers from Nouls, Choices and Scores

Strengths

  • Only one dependency, enforced by CI
  • Native AOT and trimming compatible
  • Behaviour matches the official Python SDK
  • Mirrored test suite

Caveats

  • Community package, not affiliated with TypeSafe
  • Fewer framework integrations than TypeSafeAI.Net
