jev-kmp

Unofficial Kotlin Multiplatform SDK for Jev on Android, iOS and JVM, built on Ktor and kotlinx.serialization.

Librarybeta

Overview

jev-kmp is an unofficial Kotlin Multiplatform SDK for the Jev API, targeting Android, iOS (arm64, simulator arm64 and x64) and JVM with shared code. It uses the Ktor client and kotlinx.serialization and exposes the three primitives: noul returning a probability, choice returning the winner with distribution and confidence, and score returning a floating-point position on an ordered scale.

It wraps the API key in an inline value class to avoid accidental exposure, maps HTTP errors to a typed exception hierarchy (unauthorised, rate limit, client and server errors) and uses Kotlin's explicit API mode for ABI stability. It is distributed through JitPack and carries a prominent disclaimer that it is not affiliated with TypeSafe.

What the decision model decides

TypeQuestionAnswers
OtherAny Noul, Choice or Score question from Kotlin code—

How it works

  1. Add JitPack and the dependency
  2. Create a client with an ApiKey
  3. Call noul, choice or score
  4. Handle typed exceptions

Strengths

  • One SDK for Android, iOS and JVM
  • Typed error handling
  • Key wrapped to limit exposure

Caveats

  • Unofficial
  • Shipping a key in a mobile app is unsafe; use a backend

Getting started

Add the JitPack repository and the agugliotta/jev-kmp dependency per the README.
