jev-ai-detector
Lightweight Chrome extension that gives an AI-like score for selected webpage text using Jev, framed as an experimental signal.
Overview
Jev AI Detector is a small Chrome extension: select text on a webpage, right-click or press a shortcut, and Jev returns an AI-like score indicating how strongly the text resembles AI-generated writing. It needs no local server; the user pastes a TypeSafe key into the extension options, and the service worker calls api.typesafe.ai directly.
The README is careful on two points. First, storing a key in an extension is fine for a personal demo but not a sound architecture for a public extension, since whoever controls the extension can read the key; it recommends a dedicated, revocable, limited key. Second, the score is not a reliable probability that text was AI-generated, because human and AI writing overlap heavily and editing or translation complicate attribution, so it should be treated as a stylistic signal rather than evidence of authorship.

Frequently asked questions
What does the extension decide?
An AI-like score for selected text.
Can it prove text was AI-written?
No. The README says the score is an experimental stylistic signal, not evidence.
Is my key safe?
It is stored locally and sent only to api.typesafe.ai, but the README advises a limited, revocable key.
