ego-jev-ultrafast

Single-file, zero-dependency port of jev-ultrafast to Ego Lite: one typed-choice Jev request per browser step, with extra guardrails.

Overview

Jego (ego-jev-ultrafast) lets Jev drive your Ego Lite browser from a plain-language goal, in your real browser window with logged-in sessions. It is a single-file, zero-dependency port of browser-use/jev-ultrafast with multi-model benchmarks and extra guardrails.

A script in the page walks the DOM and builds an indexed action space of visible controls with roles, labels and values. That table goes to Jev in one typed-choice request returning both the operation (click, type, select, wait or done) and target index; no screenshots or second call. The executor re-checks the element with freshness, geometry and hit-test guards and sends raw CDP input events. A small OpenAI-compatible model writes field values only when needed. The README reports median decision times of 0.6 to 1.9 seconds, about 2.5 seconds end to end for a click-only Hacker News task, and about 60 seconds for a ten-step Google Flights search, mostly animation and the helper model.

How it works

  1. Build an indexed action table from the DOM
  2. One Jev typed-choice request returns operation and target
  3. Executor re-verifies the element and fires CDP input
  4. Helper model supplies text only for text fields

Strengths

  • No screenshots or vision model
  • Zero dependencies, single file
  • Runs in your real logged-in browser

Caveats

  • Unofficial port
  • Total time dominated by page animation and text model on long tasks
