SpecPi
Opinionated Pi coding-agent setup with scope control and an improvement loop, plus an optional experimental Jev advisor layer.
Overview
SpecPi is a small, opinionated starting point for the Pi coding agent rather than a plugin marketplace. Two built-in extensions sit at its centre: scope control, which keeps each task to the files it said it would touch, and an improvement loop that turns repeated friction into small, tested changes to the setup. It adds eight hand-picked packages pinned to exact versions and checked before install, a VS Code chat panel, background jobs for long evals and builds, and a lean default where web access, browser QA and delegation stay off until enabled. A local command guard can use LANCET Nano, a 111M-parameter classifier that checks shell commands on the CPU in about 10 ms with no API key.
The Jev connection is an optional, experimental layer: the list describes a Jev advisor for capabilities and workflow checks, and the README notes its published evaluation used the release with the experimental Jev layer off. Details of the Jev questions are not in the fetched README.
What the decision model decides
| Type | Question | Answers |
|---|---|---|
| Yes / no | Does this session need a capability (web, browser, delegation) or fail a workflow check?(inferred) | — |
How it works
- Install SpecPi over the Pi coding agent
- Work with scope control and the improvement loop
- Optionally enable the experimental Jev advisor for capability and workflow checks
- Use the local LANCET guard for shell commands
Strengths
- Pinned, checked packages with rollback
- Local command guard with no API cost
- Jev layer is optional
Caveats
- Jev layer is experimental and was off in published evaluations
- Jev questions not documented in the README excerpt
