pi-jev-eye

Lean Pi supervisor: zero-token regex guardrails, done-check verification, per-turn routing and a Jev/Clef semantic slop gate on diffs.

ProjectbetaMIT

Overview

pi-jev-eye is a zero-dependency supervisor for the Pi coding agent with three layers. An instant regex gate blocks wipes such as rm -rf / or DROP DATABASE, protected-branch force-pushes and hardcoded secrets at zero latency and token cost. A done-check warns when the agent claims completion after editing files without running verification suites. A targeted semantic gate evaluates diffs of 10 or more lines with a has_slop question to reject placeholder stubs and unfulfilled TODOs.

The semantic gate can use TypeSafe Jev, OpenRouter or Cloudflare Workers AI with Clef or clef-flash, chosen at login; the README notes Clef runs within Cloudflare's free daily allowance for most sessions. A usage panel compares Jev and Clef requests, tokens and cost. It also offers reviewed turns with Jev scoring tables, per-turn model routing between fast and heavy models, and fails open on network errors. It is MIT licensed.

How it works

  1. Regex gate checks commands and writes instantly.
  2. For diffs of 10+ lines, ask the semantic slop question.
  3. Warn if the agent claims done without running tests.
  4. Route each turn to a fast or heavy model.

Strengths

  • Zero-cost first layer.
  • Choice of Jev, OpenRouter or free-tier Clef.
  • Fails open to avoid stalling sessions.

Caveats

  • Regex rules catch only known patterns.
  • Fail-open means outages skip the semantic gate.

Frequently asked questions

What does the semantic gate check?

Whether larger diffs contain placeholder stubs or unfulfilled TODOs.

Can it run free?

Using Cloudflare's Clef, most sessions fit in the free daily allowance per the README.

Does it block dangerous commands?

Yes, via an instant regex gate.
