Jevboard
Windows tray proof of concept that re-picks Bopomofo homophone candidates for a whole sentence with Jev before you press Enter.
Overview
Jevboard is a Windows system-tray proof of concept that uses Jev to re-select homophones in Microsoft Bopomofo's not-yet-committed sentence. The built-in input method converts whole sentences using only local context, so homophones such as zai, de and dai are often chosen wrongly. You type normally, double-tap Caps Lock before pressing Enter, and Jevboard reads the candidates the input method offers at each position through UI Automation, asks Jev which positions are wrong with one question per position in a single request, and shows suggestions in a floating window; Tab applies and Esc cancels.
Candidates are limited to those the input method lists, so it never introduces characters outside that set. Multiple errors are handled in rounds, and adjacent pairs that must change together are compared as pairs. High-confidence fixes are pre-selected and others offered as optional. In the author's evaluation, 100 of 111 sentences with homophone errors were corrected and 109 of 111 correct sentences were left unchanged. As an external tool it must step through each character's candidate window (about 0.1 s per character), so the author notes a production version belongs inside a native input method. Documentation is in Traditional Chinese with an English version.
What the decision model decides
| Type | Question | Answers |
|---|---|---|
| Choice | Which of the input method's candidates is correct at this position given the whole sentence? | — |
How it works
- User types and double-taps Caps Lock
- Read per-position candidates via UI Automation
- One Jev request with a question per position; pairs compared when needed
- Show suggestions; Tab applies through the input method's own keys
Strengths
- Only chooses from the input method's own candidates
- README reports 100/111 errors fixed and 109/111 correct sentences untouched
- Logs exclude keys and sentence text
Caveats
- Proof of concept; slow character-by-character reading
- Windows and Microsoft Bopomofo only
- Unsigned executable

No, it only chooses among the input method's own candidates.
How accurate is it?
The author reports 100 of 111 erroneous sentences fixed and 109 of 111 correct ones unchanged.
Why is it slow on long sentences?
It must open each character's candidate window externally, about 0.1 s per character.
