jev-mail
Read-only Chrome extension that badges each Gmail message with Jev's category, priority, spam % and reply %.
Overview
Jev Mail is a Chrome extension that scores messages in Gmail with TypeSafe's Jev model. Each message gets a category, a priority, a spam percentage and a reply percentage that estimates how much the message needs an answer from you.
There are two views. Inline badges on Gmail's thread list need only a Jev API key, because the overlay reads sender, subject and preview text from the page. A dashboard shows the whole inbox in a sortable, filterable, exportable table and needs a Gmail API OAuth client. Results are cached so scrolling back is free. The extension is read-only: it never sends, deletes, labels or archives anything, so the decision model only informs the user.
What the decision model decides
| Type | Question | Answers |
|---|---|---|
| Choice | What category is this email?(inferred) | Shopping · Security · Marketing · Work |
| Choice | What priority is this email?(inferred) | High · Normal · Low |
| Yes / no | Is this email spam?(inferred) | yes · no |
| Yes / no | Does this email need a reply from you?(inferred) | yes · no |
How it works
- Load the unpacked extension and paste a Jev API key
- The overlay reads sender, subject and preview line from Gmail
- Jev returns category, priority, spam and reply probabilities
- Badges are appended to rows and cached; the dashboard offers a full table
Strengths
- Read-only, so no risk of wrong automated actions
- Inline mode needs no OAuth client or Gmail API
- Cached results avoid repeat calls
Caveats
- Requires a TypeSafe API key
- Dashboard needs a self-created Google OAuth client
- Developer-mode extension, not a store release
