Jev Engineering cookbook
Notebook curriculum of planned sixty Jev recipes from a first Choice to closed-loop control, each runnable offline on fixtures.
Overview
Jev Cookbook from the Jev Engineering organisation is a curriculum of Jupyter notebooks teaching typed decisions one bounded question at a time, ordered from a first Choice question to closed-loop factory control. Sixty recipes are planned across categories and difficulty levels; a list summary says 33 were published at the time, with unpublished rows linking to tracking issues.
Every recipe runs offline on fixtures with no API key and states which mode it ran in (synthetic fixtures or recorded responses) along with the model version and date for recorded runs. The README is explicit that synthetic metrics only check the pipeline and are not Jev results, and that any reported Jev number states the example count and model version and comes from a held-out recorded run. A template recipe shows the standard structure.
What the decision model decides
| Type | Question | Answers |
|---|---|---|
| Choice | Varied per recipe, from first classifications to control decisions(inferred) | — |
How it works
- Clone and install the package in a virtualenv
- Run a recipe notebook offline on fixtures
- Optionally run with recorded or live responses
- Compare outcomes with stated mode and model version
Strengths
- Runs offline without a key
- Honest labelling of synthetic versus recorded results
- Graded difficulty path
Caveats
- Not all sixty recipes published yet
- Synthetic runs are not Jev performance results
Getting started
`git clone https://github.com/Jev-Engineering/cookbook.git`, create a venv, `pip install -e ".[dev]"`, then `python tools/execute_notebook.py recipes/_template`.At a glance
