jev-code

TypeScript SDK and coding CLI where Jev only picks options: typed routers, decision programs and grammar-constrained AST building.

CLIprototype

Overview

jev-code by rhighs is a TypeScript library first and a coding CLI second, both built on Jev as a decision-only model. Your code lists the options and runs the effects; Jev only picks one option. The SDK provides decision sessions, typed routers (for example routing a request to inspect, which reads state, or modify, which writes), DecisionProgram values and bounded tree building, with documentation and runnable router and dependency-tree examples.

The CLI can run coding tasks in which Jev builds a program one grammar rule at a time; the README shows a real run in which Jev builds hello.py rule by rule, runs it with python3 and reports the output, recorded as an asciicast. A separate decide mode asks choices, true-or-false statements with thresholds, scores or full spec files from the command line, and runs can be replayed or resumed. Grammar modules for Python or Bash are installable per the lists. It works on macOS and Linux with Node 22+; the MrJev list notes there is no licence file.

What the decision model decides

TypeQuestionAnswers
ChoiceWhich route fits this request (e.g. inspect vs modify)?inspect · modify
ChoiceWhich grammar production comes next in the AST?—
Yes / noIs this statement true?yes · no

How it works

  1. Define options in code (routes, grammar rules)
  2. Jev picks one option per step
  3. Code applies effects or extends the AST
  4. Validate and run the result; replay or resume runs

Strengths

  • Model never writes code directly; output is grammar-valid
  • Typed SDK for decision programs
  • Replayable runs

Caveats

  • Experimental coding approach
  • No licence file

How curated lists describe it

  • An experimental coding CLI where Jev selects AST productions for Python or Bash, with a separate command-line decision mode.

Frequently asked questions

How does Jev write code?

It picks grammar productions one at a time; code assembles a valid AST.

Can I use just the decision tools?

Yes, the SDK and decide CLI mode work on their own.

Is there a licence?

The MrJev list notes no licence file.
