jev-agent-desk
Local web and voice interface for Codex and Claude sessions in tmux, where Jev interprets each request and Python performs it.
Overview
Jev Agent Desk is a local developer prototype for talking to Codex and Claude conversations running in tmux. A single message box accepts typed or dictated input to navigate conversations, read replies, ask about a session or interrupt a running turn. Jev interprets what the user wants, and Python validates the selected conversation and performs the action.
Completed agent replies are automatically prepared as spoken renditions, with readback offering either the rendition or the exact original wording; stop and listen cancels readback independently of the agent's work, and uncertain delivery never triggers an automatic resend. It runs on Linux or WSL2 using /proc and tmux, uses ElevenLabs for realtime speech recognition and synthesis, and a configurable model for session questions and spoken renditions. Without credentials you can browse the sandbox with manual controls. The README warns it is a local control service, not a multi-user app: anyone who can reach the endpoint can interact with the attached terminals.

How it works
- User types or speaks a request
- Jev interprets intent and target conversation
- Python validates and performs the action in tmux
- Replies are prepared for spoken readback
Strengths
- Hands-free control of multiple agent sessions
- Validation in code before any action
- No automatic resend on uncertain delivery
Caveats
- Linux or WSL2 only
- No authentication: anyone with endpoint access controls the terminals
- Requires ElevenLabs for voice
Getting started
`python -m pip install -r requirements.txt` then `python launch.py start`; set TYPESAFE_API_KEY and ElevenLabs variables before starting for full features.At a glance

Frequently asked questions
What does Jev decide?
What the user's typed or spoken request means and which conversation it targets.
Is it safe to expose on a network?
No. The README says anyone with access to the endpoint can interact with the terminals.
Does it work without keys?
You can browse and use manual controls, but natural-language routing and voice need keys.
