is-jeven

Joke npm package that asks Jev whether a number is even, showing the request shape in a few lines.

ProjectprototypeMIT

Overview

is-jeven is a joke JavaScript package in the tradition of is-even: isEven(n) asks TypeSafe's Jev model whether a number is even and returns a boolean, documented as true (probably) and false (hopefully). It accepts any safe integer, an optional API key override and an AbortSignal.

The joke is the point, but it is also a minimal example of calling Jev from JavaScript: a single yes/no question with a probability turned into a boolean. It has npm tests and a typecheck script and is MIT licensed. Because it is so small, the package is also a quick way to check that a TypeSafe key works from Node, and it shows how a probability is collapsed into a boolean by the client.

What the decision model decides

TypeQuestionAnswers
Yes / noIs this number even?(inferred)yes · no

How it works

  1. Call isEven(num)
  2. Send the number to Jev as a yes/no question
  3. Return the most likely answer as a boolean

Strengths

  • Tiny, readable example of a Jev call
  • Supports cancellation via AbortSignal

Caveats

  • Joke package; never use it for real parity checks
  • Every call costs an API request

Getting started

Set TYPESAFE_API_KEY, then `import { isEven } from "is-jeven"; await isEven(2);`.

How curated lists describe it

  • Answers whether a number is even by asking a decision model. The joke is the point, and it is a three-line look at the request shape.
