file-guide

Windows file organiser that uses Jev Choice and Noul to suggest which folder a new file belongs in and to drill down to find files.

Projectprototype

Overview

File Guide is a Windows desktop app built with Electron, Vue 3 and TypeScript, documented in Chinese, that uses Jev for structured file-system judgments shown with probabilities and confidence. While browsing local directories, you can create or upload a file and ask for a filing suggestion: the current directory's subfolders become Choice candidates, and Jev returns the top five recommendations plus an uncertain row, batching automatically above 250 candidates.

A search feature decomposes global search into layer-by-layer drilling, following TypeSafe's hierarchical classification cookbook. Each layer makes one call with a Choice (which child is the target most likely in) and a Noul (is the target really at this level). An automatic mode keeps all branches above a 1% noise floor in a global priority queue and evaluates the top two each round, within a budget of 24 calls and six levels, ranking hits by in-layer probability with a depth-adjusted path factor. Folder candidates include sampled child names so the model can infer purpose, and prompts note names may be pinyin or English.

How it works

  1. Browse local directories
  2. For filing, ask Jev which subfolder fits the new name
  3. For search, drill down level by level with Choice and Noul
  4. Show ranked results with probabilities and path scores

Strengths

  • Hierarchical search over large trees within a call budget
  • Uncertain option exposed to the user
  • Handles pinyin and English naming

Caveats

  • Windows only
  • Chinese-first documentation
  • Folder and file names sent to TypeSafe
