fake-real-jev
Published Jev client and claim check from the Fake/Real evidence-review site, where Jev filters sources and judges each claim.
Overview
Fake / Real is an English and Romanian evidence-review site for news, posts and claims: paste a public link and it returns an explained report listing the factual claims found, the outside sources read, and a REAL, FAKE or not-enough-evidence result with reasons. The full application is closed source; this repository publishes the production Jev client and claim check so the integration can be read and run on its own, plus a narrated walkthrough video.
In the pipeline, Firecrawl retrieves the page and Gemini extracts up to five atomic claims. Tavily searches for sources, and Jev decides which results are relevant enough to read with batched Nouls. For each claim Jev reads cited excerpts and picks supported, contradicted or unknown, identifies the main claim and grades evidence-quality criteria. Deterministic code, not Jev, decides the public result, and a REAL or FAKE stamp requires a confidently identified main claim backed by the sources.
What the decision model decides
| Type | Question | Answers |
|---|---|---|
| Yes / no | Is this search result relevant enough to read? | yes · no |
| Choice | Do the cited excerpts support or contradict this claim? | supported · contradicted · unknown |
| Choice | Which claim is the article's main assertion? | — |
How it works
- Retrieve the page and extract up to five claims
- Search for sources; Jev filters relevant results
- Jev judges each claim against excerpts and picks the main claim
- Deterministic rules issue REAL, FAKE or not enough evidence
Strengths
- Final verdict made by deterministic code
- Not-enough-evidence outcome instead of forced answers
- Production client published for inspection
Caveats
- Full application is closed source
- Depends on several external services (Firecrawl, Gemini, Tavily)

How curated lists describe it
See link entry, the live scan timer, JEV's evidence-checking role, a saved REAL example, a saved FAKE example, and the linked sources. The live documentation scan shown ended without a verdict; its credit was returned. The coffee reports are clearly labeled saved examples, with their original analysis times.
