codex-jev-compaction

Codex plugin that builds handoff packets by asking Jev whether each old read-only tool record should stay, keeping retained text verbatim.

ProjectbetaMIT

Overview

codex-jev-compaction prepares explicit handoffs for Codex: give it context blocks and it returns a traceable JSON or Markdown packet for the next task or session. It ships as a Codex plugin with a skill, a stdio MCP tool and a zero-dependency CLI.

Instead of a generated summary that can lose an exact constraint, path or error, it asks Jev a narrow question: should this old, verified read-only tool pair remain in the handoff? Jev returns classification probabilities; code decides which evidence is eligible, validates every answer, preserves protected content and builds the packet, keeping retained text verbatim and in order. The README is clear that selection is lossy and that this release does not replace Codex's native compaction, reclaim tokens in the current conversation or modify session files. It is inspired by fast-jev-compaction and has a Pi edition. Docs are in English and Chinese.

  • Protected content preserved by code
  • Zero runtime dependencies

Caveats

  • Lossy selection
  • Does not affect the current conversation's tokens
